Set in Kabul during the summer of 1998, under the harsh rule of the Taliban, The Swallows of Kabul follows two couples whose lives become tragically intertwined. Young lovers Zunaira and Mohsen dream of a future beyond fear, religious extremism, and daily violence, while Atiq, a weary prison guard, struggles to care for his terminally ill wife, Mussarat.
