Kitty Green writes and directs this Australian thriller starring Julia Garner and Jessica Henwick. American backpackers Hanna and Liv (Garner and Henwick) take a job working at The Royal Hotel, a pub in the remote Australian outback. Hanna struggles to match Liv's enthusiasm at the prospect and is unsettled by the misogynistic behaviour of the regulars, which is seemingly accepted by the pub's owners, Carol and Billy (Ursula Yovich and Hugo Weaving).
As Hanna's patience wears thin, some of the men become more persistent in attempting to win the girls over and increase their hostility as Hanna rejects their advances. With no easy way to escape the remoteness of the outback, can Hanna convince Liv to leave with her before the men take it too far?
