American war drama set on a remote Italian mountain during the latter days of WWII. A small band of American soldiers are sent on a mission to find a German army unit believed to be hiding out in the mountains. As they make their ascent they meet villager Angelo (Franco Nero) and ask him to lead them to the army.
Despite not fully trusting the man, the soldiers have no other option but to follow. As they go deeper into the snowy ranges of the mountain it becomes apparent that a German sniper is in the area and they must make a decision on whether to continue following Angelo or not.
