The Northwoods Improvisers celebrated their 50th Anniversary as a group this year. Continuing with their approach to performing acoustic music, they bring forth a unique version of the band with White Sky. White Sky is a strong collection of tracks that helps to illustrate that the band can play as well as write. Each member of the group contributed pieces. The group was joined by special guest Tony Holland of Griot Galaxy who re-introduced the Piece IOCAB, previously only available on a Sound Aspects recording with his trio. The band also introduces arrangements of pieces by Eric Dolphy and Faruq Z. Bey.
