South African drama focusing on a young gay soldier coming to terms with his sexuality, co-written and directed by Oliver Hermanus. In 1981, 18-year-old Nicholas Van der Swart (Kai Luke Brummer) is conscripted into the South African Defence Force and sent to fight in their ongoing border war with communist Angola.
