To mark the 42nd anniversary of their formation in 1981, Mad Butcher reunited for a triumphant concert at Resonanzwerk in Oberhausen on January 28, 2023. Drawing a passionate crowd of longtime devotees and new enthusiasts alike, the band delivered a powerhouse setlist brimming with timeless classics and unexpected gems. The performance underscored the enduring legacy of a group that has long been revered as trailblazers in the German heavy metal scene. Captured with audio sourced directly from the soundboard and dynamic multi-camera video, this CD+DVD edition preserves the raw energy and intensity of the event. It serves as a testament to Mad Butcher's influential role in shaping the genre, having shared stages with iconic acts such as SODOM, HELLOWEEN, SLAYER, and EXODUS during their original run from 1981 to 1992. Formed in Essen in 1981, Mad Butcher helped shape the German heavy metal scene. Their debut album, Metal Lightning Attack (1985), is a landmark of speed metal, blending aggressive riffs with themes of violence and metal, followed by their second album, Metal Meat (1987), cementing their place in the vibrant German scene. After a hiatus, the band reactivated in 2021, with the current lineup featuring Harry Elbracht (vocals), Rolli Borchert (guitars), Reinhard Gollan (drums), and Nihil Baxter (bass).
