In this series, Portillo commences his journey on the Alaska Railroad, passing through incredible landscapes and learning the history behind the line stretching 470 miles. Portillo then takes his 1899 'Appleton's Canadian Guidebook' aboard the transcontinental railway 1000 miles across Canada, where he partakes in ice hockey and samples Canadian delicacies.
