Farid el Atrache was a Syrian-Egyptian singer-songwriter, oud virtuoso and actor, born on October 19, 1910 in Soueïda and died on December 26, 1974 in Beirut. Along with Oum Kalthoum, Fayrouz, Mohammed Abdel Wahab and Abdel Halim Hafez, he is one of the most important names in Arab music of the XXᵉ century.
