Steven Spielberg directs this sci-fi adventure which follows the friendship which forms between a young boy and an alien stranded on Earth. When Elliott (Henry Thomas) discoves an alien hiding in his garden shed one night, he takes the creature in and christens him 'ET'. Along with his older brother Michael (Robert MacNaughton) and sister Gertie (Drew Barrymore), he attempts to help ET build a communication device so that he can contact his people.
ET possesses amazing powers, including the ability to heal and to make objects levitate, but his growing bond with Elliott is threatened by the fact that government officials are trying to track him down. The cast also includes Dee Wallace and Peter Coyote.
