With Interplay Variations, that half century of musical friendship returns with their first new recording together in many decades. Built on trust, deep listening, and the freedom of spontaneous creation, their conversations move through a series of musical vignettes, sometimes tender, sometimes searching, but always alive in the moment. "John Stowell plays jazz, but he doesn't use any of the cliches; he has an incredible originality. John is a master creator." - Larry Coryell "One of the most eminent exponents of the instrument, (Friesen) maintains an astonishing level of virtuosity." LOS ANGELES TIMES

1 [3:11] Night Music 2 [2:41] Covered in Blue 3 [1:45] Affectionately Yours 4 [1:58] Deepening the Affection 5 [2:22] Sphere's (Only) Waltz 6 [4:09] Tom's Call for Peace 7 [2:28] Colors Within Another 8 [2:34] Just Around the Corner 9 [3:18] Area Code Sorrows 10 [4:36] As You Like It 11 [2:39] Everybody's Heart 12 [2:03] Springtime's Promised Blush 13 [3:00] I'm Laughing at You

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1344/6597/files/david-friesen-interplay-variations-new-cd.jpg?v=1793059979
