Michael Gornick directs this horror anthology sequel based on three short stories by Stephen King. In 'Old Chief Wood'nhead' a wooden figure in the general store run by Ray and Martha Spruce (George Kennedy and Dorothy Lamour) comes to life to wreak revenge when the Spruces are killed during a robbery. 'The Raft' follows four friends who are terrorised by a mysterious entity.
When they realise that their decision to go swimming in a secluded lake was a mistake, it is too late and there is no way to reach safety. Finally, in 'The Hitch-hiker', wealthy businesswoman Annie Lansing (Lois Chiles) is driving home to her husband after meeting with her lover when she hits and kills a hitch-hiker. Deciding not to stop, she continues her journey and is then tormented by the dead man, from whom there is no escape.
