This project was funded in part by a New Jazz Works Grant given to composer Carmen Lundy from Chamber Music America (CMA). The commission was granted just prior to the Covid-19 lockdown, and was composed during these challenging months of the pandemic. These songs reflect this time of great loss, sorrow, healing, and hope for a brighter, more inclusive future for us all. The brilliant musicians on the album - Julius Rodriguez, Matthew Whitaker, Curtis Lundy, Kenny Davis, Terreon Gully, Andrew Renfroe, Wallace Roney Jr., Camille Thurman, Giveton Gelin, and Morgan Guerin - represent the past, present and future of our Jazz legacy.
