Feature-length anime directed by Masaaki Yuasa. In 14th century Japan, Inu-oh (voice of Avu-chan) is deformed by a curse and shunned by society. Perpetually masked and reluctant to reveal his true appearance to anyone, Inu-oh 's fortunes change when he meets the blind biwa player Tomona (Mirai Moriyama).
Infused with a unique and captivating ability to dance to Tomona's music, the two outcasts become friends and perform live shows for the people. As word about them spreads, however, they soon attract the attention of the ruling class, who seek to stop the band's performances and silence them for good.
