All four episodes of the crime drama starring David Tennant and Stanley Tucci in which the lives of a death row inmate, a vicar, a journalist and a maths tutor become entwined, with potentially fatal consequences. When Reverend Harry Watling (Tennant) goes to collect his son Ben (Louis Oliver)'s maths tutor, Janice Fife (Dolly Wells), from the station, he has no idea that before the end of the day, she will be locked in his cellar. Meanwhile, crime journalist Beth Davenport (Lydia West) travels to Arizona to interview former criminology professor Jefferson Grieff (Tucci), who is in prison for the murder of his wife and now assists with cold cases.

While there, Beth becomes concerned about Janice, who is missing, and asks Grieff for his advice. Will Grieff be proven correct in his assertion that everyone is a murderer?
