British expats and best mates Steve and Brad live in different parts of Australia with their families. This year their summer get together sees Steve, Sarah and teenagers Mia and Tom visit Brad, Louise and son Kip at their new home in the bush. The reunion is warm, but tensions simmer and revelations surface that shatter the precarious peace. A failed business deal results in Steve potentially losing the family home and the debts are spiralling. Tom has a mysterious injury seemingly caused by Mia’s wayward boyfriend Jet, who turns up uninvited. Brad and Sarah are revealed to be having an affair, but Brad’s true desires lie elsewhere. The teenagers are at loggerheads but pull together when Tom goes missing just as the alarm is raised about approaching bushfires. When the flames reach the property, tragedy strikes – and the survivors are left to rebuild their shattered lives.
