Triple bill of American independent comedies written and directed by Kevin Smith. 'Clerks' (1994) revolves around slacker Dante (Brian O'Halloran) and his foul-mouthed, dirty-minded friend Randal (Jeff Anderson). Forced to work on his day off when another employee calls in sick, convenience store clerk Dante has to endure a stream of eccentric customers whilst juggling the attentions of his current girlfriend and a returning ex-flame.
Randal makes things worse with his reckless antics and, when an overexcited customer passes away in the shop's toilet, Dante realises it's not going to be his day. 'Clerks II' (2006) is set a decade later when a calamity at Dante and Randal's shops sends them looking for new horizons and they ultimately settle at fast-food restaurant Mooby's. While Dante prepares to move to Florida and marry Emma (Jennifer Schwalbach), Randal harasses geeky 'Funployee of the Month' Elias (Trevor Fehrman), who worships 'The Transformers' and believes, much to Randal's consternation, that 'The Lord of the Rings' is superior to 'Star Wars'.
Finally, in 'Clerks III' (2022) perennial slacker Randal has a heart attack and is inspired by Dante to make a movie about their lives working at the Quick Stop convenience store. While Randal writes, directs and stars in the project, he enlists a number of his old friends, including Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Smith), to help him realise his vision.
