El Hachemi Guerouabi was born on January 6, 1938 in El Mouradia (formerly La Redoute), and grew up in Diar El Babor in Belouizdad (formerly Belcourt). He died on July 17, 2006 in Zéralda. Nicknamed "le Rossignol", he is one of the great names of this musical genre. Throughout his career, El Hachemi Guerouabi has sung on almost every theme: love, misery, exile, friendship, religion, the Prophet, youth and Algeria in particular. His popularity transcends generations, and his songs are still listened to with the same passion as when he was alive.
