Clement Virgo directs this Canadian drama based on the novel by David Chariandy, starring Lamar Johnson and Aaron Pierre. Brothers Michael and Francis (Johnson and Pierre) are bonded by their shared love of the hip-hop scene of 1990s Toronto, and while their single mother is out working long shifts Francis takes care of his younger sibling, teaching him about the complexities of life. One day, however, a tragic event tears the family apart, and Michael is left with only the lessons of his adolescence to help him navigate his adult life in the absence of his elder brother.
