1930s drama directed by Ernst Lubitsch. French musician Paul Renard (Phillips Holmes) seeks out the family of a German soldier he killed while fighting in the First World War. He hides his true identity by posing as one of the late soldier's friends.
However, when he falls in love with the soldier's fiancée Elsa (Nancy Carroll), he feels compelled to reveal the truth.
